Bierwerk is situated in the Western Cape at the very tip of Africa, we strive to produce ales with a distinct African profile using local ingredients and getting inspiration from the culture and tradition of the great continent. Southern Africa has an environment and climate which bring about a wide range of exceptional flavors. The intricate cultural and culinary traditions provide us with great inspiration for our innovative ales. There are thousands of indigenous plants which will only grow in the countries in southern Africa. We utilize this great and diverse resource to produce beers with unique flavors. South Africa is also home to a thriving hops industry and vast areas of farm land producing a plethora of grains. Many of our ales are fermented with a special blend of yeast (including wine yeast, ale yeast, and naturally occurring microbes) which provides complexity and a rustic character. Being unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned with live yeast our ales has delicious mouth feel and great often ageing potential.
