Itchen Valley
Itchen Valley Brewery
1997
Founded in 1997 by two businessmen at the Christening of their Godson Dugald Rhodes. The Godfathers, pleased with their honorary responsibility, thought carefully for the future of little Dugald. Several pints of mediocre ale later the idea for forming a brewery and making their own beer began to take hold. A toast was made and within weeks a site (wholly inadequate) was found and the equipment (too big for the site) was bought. The first brew, Godfathers, won the Bronze Award for best ale in Britain the following year at the Great British Beer Festival. 16 years, 30 million pints and a brewery relocation later IVB continues to thrive. Situated in the heart of Hampshire we produce an unrivalled range of award winning real ales with pure Hampshire water, yeast and barley along with the finest hops around the country and world. Godson Dugald is as yet too young to enjoy his beer birthright, but we’re sure he will.
