The Moulins d'Ascq brewery began in September, 1999 in the North of France, a few miles from the Belgium border. Located at “la ferme du Sens”, the site also includes a large retail store, a bakery, and two restaurants in a bucolic setting. The site is a unique complex dedicated entirely to organic food.
Mathieu Lepoutre, the creator of the brewery, wanted to create what he called "a good beer" and thought the best way to master the quality of raw ingredients was to choose products from organic agriculture.
